Flying Fever

I just got back from a trip to Mumbai. With the weather playing the trick and whipping around gust and rain - I am really living it up in shivers till now.

The flight just made it to Goa in safety, as for me - I was sitting right next to the Devil himself on the flight. With the dark clouds & lightening through airplane window, I could not touch the appetizing dinner nor the cookies. The craft lurched, and the nervous traveler I am, I skipped beats. Wish my work never made me travel so much. If Mumbai was flooded, the clouds above spewed terror. If the mere mortals in ‘Amchi Mumbai’ were digging out the umbrellas and oars, frightened souls like me felt terrorized being closer to heaven. Any sudden natural disaster would send me straight to heaven, on travel without tickets!

Now that I am back to the comfort of home and watching the gentle sea rock the shores, I was wondering. Should the airlines give insurance cover to the passengers? Although air travel in India has become as regular as shuttle service – and domestic airports resemble a local railway station in peak hours. Still, are the lives of the passengers valued? Are their lives worth turbulent rides? Not that I know the rules of the land and legal intricacies of flying – but still I would like to know if I have entrusted my time and life to someone one for a few hours, can I rely on them to make an honest effort to take care of the same??

Thank God and the dear Pilot who brought me home to safety.
